Q: How does the Laser work?

A: The Laser kills fungus that lives in and under the nail. The laser light passes through the nail without causing damage to the nail or the surrounding skin. At the time of the procedure, the toenail will not become instantly clear— it takes time to grow out.

A: The process begins with a consultation, where we will explain the procedure that is to be performed and any follow- up visits that may be required.

Q: Is the procedure painful?

A:  Patients may feel mild discomfort during the procedure, some may feel a small warming sensation, and some few may feel a slight pinprick, and others may feel a burn sensation however all the above sensation will typically pass within seconds. There is typically no discomfort after the procedure and no pain medication is required.

A: No. The treatment is a walk in/ walk out procedure with no discomfort after

A: The Laser procedure typically takes about 30 minutes to 1 hour.

Q: Will the fungus grow back?

A: The infection usually improves after the first course of treatment. However, there is a chance of reinfection because the fungus is present everywhere in the environment. We will recommend care techniques to help reduce a recurrence of the infection.

Q: When is it safe to paint my nails or have a pedicure following treatment?

A:  We encourage you not to apply any nail polish and avoid nail salons until the complete treatment is finished. It is important that you remove all nail polish and nail decorations the day before your treatment.

Q: How much does the procedure cost?

A: The cost is determined during your consultation usually ranging from $500 to $900.

Q: How do I pay for the procedure?

A: Credit cards, cash, and money orders are accepted.

Q: Is the procedure covered by insurance?

A: This procedure may be covered by extended health plans. However some can use their Flexible Spending Account to cover this procedure.
